Designed for educators, business leaders, nonprofit directors, civic officials, and community advocates, the summit will convene stakeholders to develop a shared vision for literacy success in St. Joseph. This half-day summit will include round-table discussions, networking, and presentations from experienced literacy leaders. Attendance is $20 per person and registration is required. Educators can attend for free thanks to the generous support of our sponsors.
Raise Awareness: Highlight the urgent need to improve literacy rates in St. Joseph, sharing local data and national best practices.
Mobilize the Community: Engage businesses, civic groups, and faith organizations as partners in advancing literacy.

Our Summit will be led by Peggy Geisler. She is both the Owner and Senior Strategic Consultant for PMG Consulting, LLC, and the CEO of the Sussex County Health Coalition, a role she has held for over 20 years. In these positions, she works regionally with nonprofits, governmental agencies, and businesses, providing strategic thought leadership, support, and process management across the community landscape—locally, regionally, and nationally. She and her team assess, design, and facilitate implementation strategies to address the most pressing community social issues. She has also helped with the formation of the Delaware Literacy Alliance, a statewide literacy collaborative, strengthening cross-sector collaboration to improve literacy outcomes across Delaware.
Ms. Geisler has worked in Delaware for over 30 years in various leadership roles. She has been a licensed consultant for the Standards for Excellence Institute through the Maryland Association of Nonprofits and the Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement (DANA) for more than 17 years. She is a 2012 graduate of Leadership Delaware. She holds a BA in Clinical Psychology from the University of Maryland and an MA in Clinical Psychology from Salisbury University.
She serves on the Boards of United Way of Delaware; NeighborGood Partners, where she chairs the Fundraising Committee; and the Delaware Academy of Medicine, where she co-chairs the Delaware Public Health Association. She is appointed by the Governor of Delaware, Matt Meyer, to the State Addiction Action Committee and the State Apprenticeship and Workforce Committee. She is also the Chair of the Rural Addiction Action Committee and has served as Co-Chair of Delaware Goes Purple for seven years. She participates on numerous advisory boards, including DCPAP and Healthy Communities Delaware, among others.
Peggy is an animal advocate and volunteers with Talbot Humane in her hometown of Easton. She is currently launching a women’s leadership and network initiative called Women 2 Women (W2W). She is a daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt, friend, mentor, and coworker to many. Her core belief in life is that “we only exist to be here for each other.”
